It might have been a slip.. Who knows? the CEO at CBS who oversees Showtime has confirmed Season Eight will be the final one for Dexter. Les Moonves was speaking at a Wall Street conference Monday when he said,

"We have Ray Donovan coming on with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with Dexter's last season starting in June."
Reese: For what it's worth, they could have ended the series after the "Trinity" season and I think it would have gone down as one of the greatest series finales ever.
