Police in Pretoria, South Africa say two hours before Oscar Pistorius killed his model girl friend last week; the two had a loud argument.   But only security officers in the gate community were called.  Police were never involved.  

Then early in the morning, the two argued again.  There is evidence 30 year old Reeve Steencamp was running from the bedroom they shared when he shot her in the hip.    Steencamp was able to make it to a bathroom where she locked herself inside.

 Police say Pistorius shot through the door four times, hitting her with at least two more bullets.   The evidence suggests she was holding her head in her hands while sitting on a toilet.  One of the bullets passed through her hand and then into her head.   A second bullet hit her in the chest.

Then police say Pistorius used a cricket ball, (similar to a baseball bat but wider) to beat his way into the bathroom.   Inside police believe he used the same bat to beat her.  The autopsy said her skull was crushed.

At some point Pistorius realized what he had done and carried her lifeless body into a living room.   There was a trail of blood that he tried to clean up with towels.    At this point Pistorius got on the telephone and began random dialing.  He told some people he had accidentally shot his girl friend believing she was a burglar, and then sobbing to others he had just killed his “Baba”.

 Pistorius has been charged with pre-mediated murder, the most serious murder charge under South African Law. He faces life in prison.   His family has said he is not guilty of pre medicated murder.  Her family says God will decide the truth. 

He is due back in court tomorrow for a bail hearing.
