Mindy McCready took her own life
in Heber Springs Arkansas Sunday afternoon. Police say she shot the family dog and then turned the handgun on herself.
Her body has been taken to Arkansas state crime lab. She was 37 years old.

Her boy friend David Wilson died about month ago. The cause of death was a single gun shot wound to the head.
McCready said his death was a suicide, but that was never confirmed by local police, and in fact they have opened an investigation into his death. Local police were still waiting for test results to be returned.
McCready was never named as a suspect in the death, but she had agreed to many interviews knowing she would be asked if she had killed him. She was asked the question time and time again and denied it each time saying the two of them were "soul mates"
The bullet that took Wilsons life was missing for more than 24 hours, when it suddenly turned up, she said, in the same dogs mouth.
Her two children, six year old Zander (the son of a man who now lives in Florida and has been asking for custody) and 9 month old Zayne (Wilson's child) were not at home at the time. They had been placed in foster care after Wilsons death.
After many many previous attempts to sober up, she had checked herself into an alcohol rehab center again two weeks ago, but went home just two days later.
McCready tried to take her own life twice before. Once in 2005 and again in 2008.
