Around 2:30 this morning the roof collapsed at 2900 Highland Drive and Interstate Warehousing. When the roof came down, it ruptured the line on an ammonia tank holding 4-thousand pounds of the chemical. The supply valve to that tank has been closed by firefigthers, but the gas inside must still be dispersed or removed, and that's what led to the evacuation order, and led the city to close freeways.
West Bound 196 between 44th street and 32nd Avenue has been closed along with Westbound M-6 at 8th avenue.
A dozen businesses along Corporate Grove Drive have been evacuated, and some residents have been told to stay inside until the all clear is given.
